Proposal for new college student housing building. Hanging in shared common areas, these snapshots of local landmarks will be accompanied by QR codes that can be activated with one’s cell phone. The application opens with several prompts, such as: Feeling blue and wish to cheer up? Excited and want to calm down? Would you like to keep a dreamy vibe? . . . Responses to these prompts generate a black and white abstract pain-by-numbers line drawing, along with versions of each image in a variety of color palettes depending on the user’s responses. Since translation and mapping techniques are common tools of learning, the photos, numerical codes, color swatches, and paintings generated via this interactive artwork captions and references places and experiences, while activating an individual art making process. Outputs might include coloring books, calendars, printable keepsakes, digital art that can be shared with friends along with playlists, etc.
